He is the child of Mahendra Kumar Thapa and Rameshwari Thapa. Instructed from Kathmandu's Siddhartha Banasthali High School, Thapa holds a Master's Degree in Sociology. He is challenging from Kathmandu-4 in the CA Election 2013 speaking to Nepali Congress. He started his political vocation in 1990. He was the general secretary of the NC's understudy wing Nepal Student Union since 2003 till 2005.
